Activism and Social Media: Youth Participation and Communication

Background: Digitalization and hyperconnectivity generate spaces for youth participation in social activism through media platforms. The purpose of this research was to analyze young people’s online experience movements, including their preferences, themes, usage language, perceived impact. Methods: is framed within a qualitative interpretative–descriptive paradigm. Five focus groups were conducted, 58 high school students from Malaga, Spain. Results: Several themes identified the coding process, technological devices movements or activism, perception degree participation, interest, motivation involvement, language use on media, beliefs. Conclusions: In hyperconnected world, becomes more relevant. Their interest reflected enormous potential that people has networks virtual platforms, becoming an informal communication model with characteristics be effective vehicle transformation.
